Update!
Moved to tulsa, working for American Airlines and things are getting to a "routine". The life is turing out to be lonely existence with nothing much to look forward to. Lets see if I can change this ! |

Yes I am still alive. !
Just happened to receive a mail saying that I blogged 71 weeks ago and that seems like an enternity. Things have not changed much from where I was 71 weeks ago. Happend to visit 3 countries in Europe, 3 different cities in the US, Worked for 3 months at Sabre Holding ( travelocity.com) and also took up a job as a tutor. Well thats a breif update .. |

a big hello from Dallas....
Its been nearly a year since i posted an entry in my journal. In the past one year lots has changed .. I am in a new country doing new things. Now i am doing my MBA at Dallas at SMU ... I guess this will be the right forum to say hello to all back in India and others. I think that journals would be better way of telling whats happening with me here rather than individual mails. Well then I go to MBA school at the Cox school of business at Southern Methodist Univ Dallas TX (www.coxmba.com). I have kinda settled in here with couple of other Indians in the village apts ( http://www.thevillageapts.com) in a complex called "the greens". Its a 2bed 2 bath apt with all those aminities that you get in the US ( fridge, washer dryer, cooking range ... ) .. I travel to school by public transport systems ( www.dart.org ), which is free for all the students. The best part is I can travel any mode or transport (bus, metro line and the Train) FREE :) .. School is fine .. with usual MBA type life style ... case studies... group meetings, seminars .. blah blah .. But the best part is that I have bought a laptop ( BTW this was compulsory for school) .. I bought a Acer TravelMate 292 Lmi similar to the one carthik has... and the school campus is a wireless campus .. so Yahoo ! fast connectivity and more downloads... and to add to that .. i have a wireless DSL connection at home ... so more downloads.... and to say more .. i have a CD writer and a DVD writer.. :) Enough of things here ... I was going through the web and found this site called People Data ( https://www.peopledata.com/query1.php) and I typed in Carthik Sharma. what i got was freaking... it said that he is in FL and i guess it also said his bday .. man net is not a "safe" place . |

dissapointment......
yesterday was a bad day for india .. australians played well and we had little chances to win the game ... credit to them ... these days am trying my luck in indian stock market .... its interesting how things behave in the market . u dont know why a price of a stock is increasing .. why there are so many buyers ... sometimes i think that there are buyers and sellers in the market so that they can make profits .. i guess each take turns .. if u can master the stocks then ... u need not work ... sit at home and just make the "RIGHT" calls and walk ur way to glory .... things seem rosy .. but i guess will stop once i burn my hands .. :) .. till now nothing much ... am loosing around 2k .. :) .. pratik is here india and will be in hyd tomorrow .. hope peace prevails in IRAQ soon ... |

India rocks ..
i had been on a train journey from here to tirupathi .. the temple town over the weekend ... i loved the journey .. the country side that u get to see while travelling are breath taking .. lovely feilds .. baren land .. hectares and hectares of land which is unoccupied and not "touched" .. all this gives u a great feeling of being in the "wild" .. being with pure nature... away from people .. away from all those urban things .. a great recharger ... i went to tirupathi to meet up with my parents who were there too .. also went along to the "hills" and see the richest god in earth ... according to some estimates .. tirupathi balaji earns $100 million on donations and other activities every year .. thats huge ... the scale of operations itself is huge ... 1000s .. if i am not wrong .. on an average day some 20000 people come to see the god .. and on auspicious days more than a lac people turn up ... handling such volumes of people is great and is done very easily .... hats of to the tirupathi administration ... on work front its been a decent week .. Lots to be done over the week .. but this time arround no night outs .. pratik is back in india .. by the way pratik is my friend for more than 6 yrs now .. he was there in seatle microsoft for a more than 3 months .. so heres something to look forward to ... |

hail linux ..
I finally installed linix 8.0 in my machine. ..... its looks good .... the features that impressed me most the the simplicity of connecting to the internet .. and then inturn connecting to my office network .... now i can work at home without much difference... i need to find more about clusters .... computing clusters are the way to go .. that what i beleive .. instead of having massive machines .. we can have small machines collaberating to form a gaint ... i always beleive in the power of ordinary things when then come together .. My garden ...... this is one thing that i miss ... the garden that i had was plucked off ... coz the apartment association though that the "terrace" garden that i had was creating problems coz of water seepage ... so they filled the complete thing with concrete ... now .. am back to good old earth pots .... roses are blooming again .. though this time i have lesses flowers .. but defenitely things are getting better .. Its getting hotter here .. so we as in all my room mates have decided to go in for a refrigerator ... the questionis about going in for a new one or a used one ..... its trade off between cost and quality ...... its indeed a small world....
today one of my colleague vijucat got to my page from another of ex-colleague birdonthewire they seem to have been keeping a note of my postings .. thats great .. and infact figured out that lots of ppl whom i know use LJ and there is a community in hyderabad. good to know that ... vijucat have a nice time in NYC man ... Hmmm ... am posting after a long time .. lots of things have been happening ... Job ... its has been hectic .. i am working on a system called DESFlow and its seems to be "the" software . every one is eager abt the things that it can do. I am optimistic lets see what happens .. me got promoted to senior member tech .... :) .. that seems to be a little too fast .. i guess am underestimating myself .... but this doent mean that i have a sal hike .. ... i attended a music concert by gurthu ... this is the first live concert that i attended ... was amazed to know the kind of talen that ppl possessed .. guthu could handle lots of precursion instrumnets at a time .. and was good at most of them .. thanks to psasidhar that i could make it there .. vasu was also there .. My garden .. the one that used to be happy is no longer there .. the house owner somehow felt that we should seal all mud filled places where we grew the plants and instead have all the plants in pots .. so now have to start all over again ... :( well will not promise to come back tomorrow .. but will try to be regular here ... kites are good ...
for the first time in my life i flew a kite .. it was great experience ... today was "sankranthi" ... uttaraan ... pongal ... hmm .. many names ... but the best part is that ppl in india take t o flying kites this time of the year and i also thought to join them .. it was fun .. kinda a transcends ur feelings to that of a kid ... feels great in all .. lost two kites but .... had some fun ... plan to fly more kites .. came to office to check mails but .... had a mail from our tax ppl to submit tax saving stuff .. and man i hope there is no tax at all in india .. or the other extreme ... flat tax ... no savings so that u can save tax ... flat out .... any one of these options is acceptable .. i think the second one is better .. flat tax .. no exemptions. bought a matrix vcd ... and planning to go home this month end ... |

gardens ....
it was a good three days ... started friday night with me hunting for an old harddisk for my PC at home(goa) then .. went arround Chenoy trading centre .. this place amuses me every time i go there ... its like a vegetable market .. except that these ppl dont sell vegetables but computers ... such is the place ... full of stuff ... u never know whether i am getting the correct stuff ?? ..... got a 10 GB hard disk for 2500 INR ... had no bad sectors ... came home partioned it and then .. loaded lots of songs so that my sis can listen to it ... then came home and played NFS 2 ... racing never attracted ... me .. but some how this seems to be interesing ... feel that have no time and patience for the games i used to like .... but then .. tried to play ... AOE ... Ceaser ... Commandos 2 ... but left all of them half way ... slept late that day ... next day .. was another lazzy morning .. did some cleaning .. and then .. saw a movie called *american desi* ... saw this after a months time .. this is long considering that i see two movies every week .... was a comedy .... but enjoyed it when was seeing it ... saw it with sathya and his friend rishikesh ....... did a lots of gardening .... these days have developed this interest in gardening .. have managed to put some plants .. and they seem to be growing well .. have 4 roses ... 1 dalia ( similar to sunflower) .. lots of chilli plants ... lots of corriander and mint plants .. a bitter gourd plant ... two karuveppalai ... i have no idea what do they call that in english ..... then ... lots of flowering plants .. and for my interest to be going .. i guess these flowering plants need to give flowers daily .. :) ,.... but seeing plants grow makes me fell some how liberated .. good thing in the morning to see some new flowers .. new buds ... small leaves .... great stuff to see .. well the will get back to work ... loonnnngg weeek ahead .. have a release coming up this 17th .. so .. have to slog it out .. its been a bad day .. i have been behind a thing called file upload and then there is this series of meeting where in the main point is not to arrive at anything conclusive ...every seems to have their own opinion .. and then .. there is no action for a long time .. The way that people define jobs here is also vauge .. the estimation sense of "job" completion also seems to be very very wierd ... software is i guess a very *non quantifiable" job .. generally the timelimits are imposed untill we find out that things are not working ou the way it shuld be .... Leave this ... i have been having a horrible 10 days .. where my days start at 8 in teh morning and end at say wee hours in the morning ... mad man i am .. |

Today went to charminar with pratiks mom and dad .. it was a good time there ... the market was full of goods and cheap ones tooo .. sometimes wonder abt the the number of people who come and buy there .. there was literally no space to walk .. it is ramzan month ... the place had lots of these "haleem" shops .. Pratik reached readmond .. that guy was pretty much excited to reach the US .... He must have a teriffic time in the US with christmas approaching .... My CAT exams are 7 days from now .. and have not taken a single practice test ... ayoooo ... let me get back to work .. |

Its been a hectic weekend .. with monday being off on ocassion of deepavali .. after 6-7 years i kinda burst crackers that too crackers worth 1000 INR .... Strange things happen when i generally start enjoy .. and most often than not its my tummy that takes toll on me ... literally went 20 times to the bathroom yesterday night .. and vomited twice ... i felt like there is nothing in my system ..if u blow air thru my mouth it will come out thru the anus .. nothing to obstruct it ... ... hey all,, Thanx to eve and carthik ... i am able to write to livejournal ... its been a torid day reading all sorts of documentation .. i wonder the only thing that the document writer ever wanted is that the person reading it will come back to it always.... Its deepavali time here .. and my mail box ix flodded with happy deepavali messages .. i wonder if every one is genuine in wishing me or is it just that they have to get the mail chain going ?? well i better push off for the day ....
